1. You can ONLY answer 'Yes' or 'No'.
2. You are NOT ALLOWED to explain ANYTHING unless someone messages or comments you and asks—and, believe me, the temptation to explain some of these will be overwhelming. Nothing is exactly as it seems.

Last night, someone in my apt complex (dont know from where) was having VERY loud sex. She was quite a screamer. This continued for quite a while (lucky her?). She was so loud that I could hear her perfectly clear from inside my apt with my windows closed. she was not a direct neighbor, though i did not investigate too closely where she was. Mostly, the reason this cracked me up so much was at some point, someone from across the way got annoyed and yelled "shut up!" out the window. HAHAHAHHA!!! I laughed so hard. It did quiet her down though...

I keep forgetting to post that when I was at the wildlife society meeting, I met the guy who's great grandmother was Morrison! (yes the dorm!) She was the one who went to conn and donated the money for the dorm. it was a little odd running into that guy in lubbock tx. he lived in CT for a bit.

Ok, time for the 44th annual Texas chapter wildlife society conference report.
first: list of things I saw for the first time: -cotton fields. -a tumble weed. -a giant field of wind mills (the main theme of the meeting was actually on wind power and the effects of wind turbines on wildlife). -jackrabbits -lesser canada geese (so cute and little!) -men in oversized cowboy hats, very tight jeans and boots.
The landscape here is truly spectacular.
the meeting was very long, but i did learn a lot. Now I know what statistics I will use for the occupancy part of my thesis. The actual meeting was a bit less interesting, but I was tired by then (3 days of occupancy workshop, then 2 days of conference). There were some good relevent presentations and all the presentations given by my friends and class mates (5 in total) went well. The 9 hour trip was long, but the van was comfortable enough, and the landscape was beautiful and interesting to watch. Hanging out with my professors and grad-mates was fun. my professor threw spit balls at a grad-mate. heh. and i got to meet a few interesting ppl.

I just wanted to post about how happy I am that I'm here and doing this. I am finally doing what I dreamed and despite a recently broken heart, there is still no where I'd rather be.

First semester is completed (well it was actually completed last thur, but grades werent all back til now, and the end of the semester means nothing for my graduate project which still trudges on). I currently have a GPA of 4.0 :) Next semester I'm only taking 2 classes since I will be out in the field most days (my big research season is from April through July, and i'll probably be going out fri through mon and sometimes on wed... I am taking wetlands deliniations and research methods (research methods is a required graduate class). This semester I need to get my degree plan oked by the dean and write and finish and turn in my thesis proposal--(ie lots of work!).
Now I'm home for the holidays, and my lizzie just got home from work!

done with finals. my ass kills. total of 8.5 hrs of taking exams today. one exam lasted 5.5 hours (insane! it was in a 2 hr time slot, but no one left until at least 4 hrs into it!) and one exam lasted 3 hours, w/ 2.5 hours between. I was supposed to have a meeting with my grad advisor and the other grad students immediately after the last exam (ended at 7), but they changed the location at the last minute and didnt let me know and i barely had enough energy to get to the first venue, so I went home instead, with my aching head and ass... oh and i hadn't eaten anything today except two granola bars until i finally got home. i was so emotionally drained that i actually cried on the way home, just cuz i have no clue why really. but soon it is bed time, and advil time, and all will be ok...

The one thing that I just can't get used to in Texas is the temperature. Not because of the warmth, I like the warmth, but because the temperature is extremely eratic! A bit ago it was 40 on Tuesday, 70 on Wed, 50 on thur... This weekend it was 60 on sat, today its 70 and tonight its supposed to below freezing again. Its just bizarre! Now its thundering, and last night there was a lot of hail.
time to get back to studying for finals...
